Competition Format

Stage One: Hong Kong Preliminaries (open to all full-time tertiary students in Hong Kong)

Phase I - Preliminary Round

  1. Competition Online Registration
      - An application number is assigned to each registered team for identification purposes. This number is used for the online submission of competition entries.
  2. Workshop
      - Workshop 1 - Why can't I be the next?
  3. Executive Summary Submission
      - Each team submits a business plan executive summary (not more than 1000 words, via the online submission system).
      - 50 teams will be selected to enter the semi-final round.

Phase II - Semi-final Round

  1. Workshops
      - Workshop 2 - What's in the mind of a successful entrepreneur?
      - Workshop 3 - Secrets of a fundable business plan?
  2. Business Plan Submission
      - Each semi-finalist team submits a business plan (not more than 5 A4 pages, including appendices, charts and graphs etc., via the online system).
      - Each semi finalist team submits a one-minute video to be voted online by the public in the
    "Best Visual Presentation" competition*.
      - 10 teams will be selected to progress to the final round.

Phase III - Final Round

  1. Mentoring Program
      - Each finalist team is paired with a seasoned entrepreneur or industry practitioner mentor, who will council, support and advise.
  2. Workshop
      - Workshop 4 - Even if you are good, how to sell it?
  3. Final Submission & Presentation
      - Each finalist team submits a full business plan (not more than 30 A4 pages, including appendices, charts and graphs etc., via the online system).
      - Finalist teams will present their proposed venture to a panel of judges. Each team is given 15 minutes to present and 15 minutes for a Q & A session with the judges.
  4. Award Presentation Ceremony
      - Final -10 team project showcase.
      - The top 3 teams will be announced. Winners are invited on stage to present their project as well as accept their awards.
      - The champion will represent Hong Kong at the Regional Finals and compete against winners from other Asian countries.
      - The winners of "Best Visual Presentation" will also be announced with the winning videos introduced during the prize ceremony.

Stage Two: Regional Finals

  1. Regional Showdown
      - The champions from each of the Asian countries present their business plans to a panel of judges in Hong Kong.
      - All teams are given 10 minutes to present their work and 5 minutes for a Q & A session.
      - The Judges will select 3 winners for the "Best of the Best" award and a winner for the "Most Innovative" award, sponsored by the Hong Kong Science Park.
  2. Entrepreneurial Forum and Tour
      - An exclusive forum, taking winners on a tour of corporate visits, seminars, social as well as cultural exchanges.

* The "Best Visual Presentation" is an independent competition. The award is not a guarantee of progression into the final round.
